Matboard width is often determined by both the size of the art and the overall size you wish your framed art to end up. However, if you are trying to make a small image large, then a much larger border width should be chosen and vice versa if you want to constrain a larger piece of art, where you would use a smaller border.
Larger borders are usually more visually pleasing than the narrow ones and will offer a more balanced, finished look.

Matboards are more than an aesthetic add on. They assist in preserving your art by keeping the glass off the art and helping with airflow, which avoids the two potentially sticking together.
Matboards also create a new dimension by the way of depth- especially if more than one layer or a double thick matboard is used.
Our matboard collection is extensive. Please contact us should you have any special requests.

With our easy to use custom framer, feel free to try the variety of frame options available. Consider the environment where your art will be hung- is the item you're framing to become a main feature in your home or is it for resale or a gift? Larger frames add substance and drama to the item to be framed. Smaller frames can be less conspicuous and minimal. Louder colours add fun.

Acrylic has a very high breaking point which makes it ideal for transporting.
We recommend that all items to be framed over the size of 500x500mm use acrylic glazing.
