The
Van Uffelens have been in the art industry for
a number of years, and their
Cafe / Restaurant "The Gallery" has
benefited from their understanding of colour,
texture and lighting. The small yellow
entrance off Church Street gives little indication
of the charm and spaciousness of the interior,
with polished wooden floors, discreet lighting,
and a well-chosen colour scheme. On the
walls a selection of paintings by various artists,
which are changed regularly,
is available for purchase. The
tables are well spaced, allowing a
real feeling of intimacy for you and your
dining partner.
A
gas fire with comfortable couches is
just
perfect for relaxing with a drink
from their extensive list of good wines. The
layout of the restaurant provides the opportunity
for a wide range of occasions to
be catered for simultaneously, without interfering
with another's enjoyment . If you prefer dining
al-fresco, the restaurant has outdoor seating in
the front courtyard under the grapevines. The
music is tasteful, filling in the background
without hindering
conversation. At "The Gallery" the
meals are served promptly with no compromise on
presentation or food quality.
"The
Gallery" staff
are attentive, and refreshingly friendly,
which adds to the inviting
atmosphere. The style and warmth equate to
somewhere you will really enjoy being at. Your
hosts Niels & Tamsin
Van Uffelen (photo
on right) manage the business and are
both qualified & experienced
chefs. They
have travelled extensively and worked in
London and Scotland. Lunch at
"The Gallery" can become a good habit as the
menu is changed often enough to keep diners
intrigued and keep returning for more.
"The Gallery" is well supported
by the entire Van Uffelen family.
This business is also integrated with
the walk through to the picture gallery.
Next
time you are sitting at home and are not sure
what to do after a long day, why not try a dessert
and a
glass of wine in front of the fire at the restaurant
"The Gallery".
